Novelist Saul Bellow (THE ADVENTURES OF AUGIE MARCH; HERZOG; HUMBOLDT'S GIFT), was born on this day to Russian immigrant parents in Lachine, Quebec, in 1915.

It's the birthday of songwriter Frederick Loewe, who teamed up with Alan Jay Lerner to write such Broadway musicals as BRIGADOON, PAINT YOUR WAGON, MY FAIR LADY, and CAMELOT. He was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1904.

It's the anniversary of the hanging of Bridget Bishop in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692; the first of 19 people who would die after being convicted of witchcraft.

Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.®
