A March in the Ranks hard Pressed on the Road Unknown
Today's Reading:"A March in the Ranks Hard Pressed on the Road Unknown" by Walt Whitman from LEAVES OF GRASS.
It's the birthday of Anne Frank in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany, in 1929. Her diary was found by a family friend and given to her father after the war; he was the only surviving family member.
Swiss children's author Johanna Spyri (HEIDI) was born on this day in Hirzel, Switzerland, in 1829.
It's the birthday of the civil engineer who designed the Brooklyn Bridge, John Roebling, in Mulhausen, Prussia, in 1806. He was injured during the building of the bridge and died before its completion, but his son Washington supervised the remaining work.
Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.®
